Prior to coming to Fairview I worked with both children and adults for over 13 years in a variety of settings providing me with a broad and solid base of nursing experience. Highlights of my career are: working in the intensive care unit at Children’s Memorial Hospital, general pediatrics at Evanston Hospital, adult medicine at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s, oncology, orthopedics, and adolescent mental health units at Lutheran General Hospital. While working at Parkside Home Care I administered chemo and antibiotic therapy to home bound patients. I cared for people at the end stage of life while working in the hospital at Hospice of the North Shore. I have had an amazing opportunity of working at many stages of the lifespan.
In the last 20 years at Fairview, 5 years as a second grade teacher and 15 years as a certified nurse I’ve had the opportunity to directly serve children impacting their health and educational experience. Students with significant medical needs will continue to be mainstreamed into public schools. The nurse is part of the team in supporting children enabling them to take full advantage of the Fairview experience. Each contact I have working with students offers the opportunity to teach informally in the moment or more formally in the classroom. This enables me to impact student’s health, education and development as a person. I am privileged to be part of the process of growing individuals. Over the years I have learned many important life lessons which have impacted my life. When not at work I enjoy being with my two sons and daughter in law, kayaking, biking, hiking, gardening and reading.
